FRIENDSGIVING! SETTING THE TABLE

What is a Friendsgiving? According to Urban dictionary it is the celebration of Thanksgiving Dinner with your nearest and dearest.  Since many people today don’t live close to their family, Friendsgiving is a way to celebrate the holiday with your friends who feel like family. And because the RGM staff is a team of close friends …we’ve decided to make this a new tradition for Redeemed Girl (I mean we might as well…since we all consider ourselves professional foodies). We will gather the weekend before Thanksgiving at Marian’s home and bring our favorite dishes to share as we laugh and reflect over the blessings we’ve experienced this past year.

But what type of friends would we be if we didn’t extend this invitation to you? Since you can’t make the trek all the way to Texas, we thought we would give you an insider’s look on how we are making this a fun, festive evening.

So where to start?

1. First, call your friends and set the date. Let Friendsgiving Begin!

2. Next, call your momma, your grandmamma or your best friend’s momma and collect some — as Marian would say, ”slap your momma good,” recipes.  This is a great time to learn to cook something new or to dazzle your buddies with your cooking chops. Better yet, ask your friends to each bring a dish and make your Friendsgiving a potluck event. Even your girlfriend who can’t boil water can pick up a fresh loaf of bread for the evening.

3. Finally, Set the Table! Nothing says hostess with the mostest like a beautifully set table. So take a few minutes (or hours) and visit our favorite online destination… you know where I’m talking about….good ol’ Pinterest. Here are some of the ideas that our team will be incorporating in our first annual Friendsgiving!
